Svein Maalen would not be anything more than a temporary choice for Rosenborg, so for him it would be better to take the opportunity in Aalesund now. Especially since they have decided to commit to try to play more attacking football than they have in the past. Maalen have gotten a lot out of a little with Ranheim before, so Aalesund would be a step up for him. I have heard some rumours about what Rosenborg are doing, but it's both vague and confusing, and a lot of contradictory messages. Hopefully after the match against Stabæk it's all over.

Apparently the owner of the dog is Carlo Holse's dad, it really made the match a bit of a comedy show. And have sparked a huge discussion if top teams should be allowed to have second teams in the league system. In Norway there are no rules on how many first team players they can play at any time, or not any limits on who can play. So a player with 10 matches for the first team can play for the second team. Which makes things a bit unfair.

Noah Holm is back from Reims. There is a chance he gets sold elsewhere before he can be registered for play in Norway, so he might not become a challenger to Sadiku - but if he stays he will absolutely be the first choice. But then again he gets injured if someone looks at him too hard, so it's not that much of a danger.

The manager change could have come in better circumstances for Agon and Santeri, seeing as the first training is today, and they are still away with the national team. But the 4-3-3 the manager will play could fit both of them well. The challenge for Santeri is the number of midfielders in the squad, and for Agon Ole Sæter is back in training too now. So even if the Icelandic players will be considered wings and not strikers now, there's a striker that showed great form last year, and that is one the manager knows well from their time in Ranheim together.

Yes, a real pity Agon and Santeri weren't there from the start when Maalen stepped in. The reports from his first training yesterday were really encouraging, but Maalen, of course, knows exactly what the fans want to see and hear. He can definitely talk the talk, let's see how he walks I, for one, am looking forward to the next matches much, much more than I have been in some years (and I'm kicking myself because I won't be able to see the next three (!) matches live, due to some unfortunate coincidences, and a bit of bad planning).

Also, more rumours about Ole Selnæs returning to RBK. If he does so, Santeri's best hope at regular playing time will be at one of the two MC (indreløper) positions. Bjørlo will no longer be the coach's favourite, but the competition will still be hard. Skarsem has played fairly well in the last matches, and if Selnæs returns, Nypan (who was drilled at DMC yesterday) may become a regular starter at MC. A lot will also depend on whether Maalen will use Holse as a winger or midfielder. It's a completely new situation, and I believe Maalen will want to find a clear regular starting eleven. Performance during the next couple of weeks may be decisive for the whole remaining season.

For Sadiku, the situation is at least as unclear. Aga and Sæter were drilled as strikers yesterday. Based on what I've seen so far, I think Agon has a good chance at coming out ahead of Aga. An in-form Ole Sæter, on the other hand, would be an almost ideal 4-3-3 striker, but we don't know how long it will take for him to be match fit again, and we don't know how Maalen will feel about starting him, with an expiring contract and all the media fuss, questionable loyalty, and so on. It's all very unclear, and very exciting.

It seems like a lot of people agree that Sadiku would be a better fit for the team than Aga, and I think that's true. I'm pretty sure Sæter will be first in the line-up of the strikers, but at the same time he will leave at the end of the season - unless the reason he announced he'd leave at the end of the season was because of Rekdal, and not his allegedly criminal agent.

I think all those rumours about Ole Selnæs are people who try to stir some extra hype amongst the fans, as far as I can see it's only talked about on various facebook-groups, and it's not mentioned once on Twitter, and it would be huge for the Facebook-fans if they are in front of the Twitter-fans for once. But absolutely, if Selnæs comes, the central midfield is his. And if Maalen thinks Nypan is a central midfield too, then he will be preferred over Santeri as well I think. But if they try to play more like a 4-2-3-1, or "flipping the V" as it's called in Rosenborg, Santeri might end up playing with Selnæs or Nypan.

Interesting times anyway, and tomorrow we'll know who Rosenborg play in their first round of the ECL too, could end up getting the winner of Haka or Honka's match.

Haka might be Rosenborg's first opponent in Conference league. Hopefully they'd both be allowed to play those matches. Unless Haka drops the ball against Crusaders.

Väänänen starting in the central role of the three in the middle. Sadiku not even in the squad. Probably because Aga got a week of training with the squad while Sadiku was away. Santeri was away too obviously, but he is probably the best player in that role right now.

Actually excited for a Rosenborg-match for the first time in a long time. Different times.
