Tässä muutamia kommentteja Velasco Carballon valinnasta tuolta tuomaritoimintaa käsittelevältä sivustolta. Kuinka valitettavan oikeaan asiantuntijat osuivatkaan ennakoinnissaan:
Hopefully Carballo will manage dissent better at this time. That's all in this game. Good luck to both crews.
To be honest I rather hope we won't see too many "broken legs" in BRA COL. I hope Velasco keeps control and succeeds with his calm style, which the match can benefit from a lot - but there is always a risk. Pitana came totally expected.
I hope especially we can see some nice play. Velasco, in his last game, sacrificed fluidity to obtain control.
Pitana deserves it, despite his error in HON-SUI. But Carballo? I don't like his style. If his card selection is the same like in URU-ENG we can only pray for a fair game.
As regards BRA-COL, I think Carballo is a risky solution. We can only hope there will be no "Nishimura's penalty". But his card selection was below expectations in URU-ENG, I remember in the report was written that "he losses the control of the match between minutes 30-90". So, I can't understand this choice.
Erittäin hyvin ennustettu. Tässä kommentteja sitten pelin jo käynnistyttyä:
Fernandinho seems unbookable. Five fouls against Chile and yet again hard play against Colombia but no yellow card.
No comment on Velasco's player and conflict management in 24'. Unbelievably unclever.
At 45', was that a "verbal" warning or a staring contest?
Many fouls targeting Neymar and Rodgriguez; he needs to be careful to protect the key players.
Both players feet were high and both players aim were to play the ball. But his control of the game and player management is below average...
Fernandinho and Zuniga should have been booked by now. Trainers change the players who are not performing well. Can we do the same for Velasco? :P I believe Moen would do better...
Same old Velasco. No player management, no cards where there is absolutely needed couple, players running from distance to tell, dissent dissent dissent. Too many fouls etc. I'm sorry but velasco is always the same.
This situation at 24': The right thing would be to whistle it back and say a few words to defuse the situation. Instead, the continue playing behind his back and he does not object. Unacceptable.
I don't know why Fernandinho is not booked. Once again four+ fouls including two of the rougher sort. No YC. Same for the Zuniga knee-challenge at 45'.
As I feared: Too lenient, but at least no grave errors yet.
FIFA, BRA and COL knew what they would get with this referee. At least nobody will be banned for the semifinals with a second yc in the tournament thanks to this card refusing approach. Poor performance.
62 minutes, 40 fouls, 0 cards!
I must be honest. Nothing against Velasco Carballo of course, but this was in my opinion the worst performance in the whole WC until now.
I can excuse Nishimura, Roldàn and all the other referees who committed single mistakes. But a performance like this was rarely seen, at least to my eyes.
Apart from the leniency, for which Busacca and the committee are responsible, too often during the match I noticed a referee at the mercy of players: everything was allowed. The prevention was never used. Communication was difficult. Just whistling fouls and making gestures. This is really terrible. Sorry, said with all the respect for the officials involved. But this is not my style...
I'm with you Chefren. I kept waiting all game for something truly horrendous to happen. Thankfully it was BRA-COL and NED of 2010 wasn't involved. The only reason this game didn't completely spiral out of control was because of the players' fear at missing the semifinal. It had nothing to do with Velasco. At the very least it was the worst knockout round performance. At least his near-side assistant did well with the offside calls against COL in the second half.
